The problem with having a (possibly) brilliant idea for some writing in the shower is that you then have to leap out and write it down whilst dripping wet and semi naked. My reading week has started.

Today was a day to #FastForGaza in a way that was manageable for me. And email to my MP duly sent too. We must stop arming Israel or we are complicit in the genocide
#FastForGaza: Will you join us?

Christians in Jerusalem have called on us to spend a day in prayer and fasting for Gaza.

Launching Wed 21 May, join us as we pray for an end to the fighting and a peaceful future for Palestinians and Israelis:

Back early from @onfiremission.bsky.social and reflecting on the shoes I wear. Is it the worker boots of Pope Francis or the kickass Dr Martens of John Paul II? Can I have one on each foot?

Following the annual Rectory debate, we’ve upped the number of marzipan apostles on the dinner cake from 13 (Judas having been reinstated some years ago, and Mary Mag added shortly after). Our Easter story from Luke mentioned a few more women who ran to tell the men. Welcome Mary, Joanna and others.

Well that sums up a productive evening at Sarum with the rather excellent addition of a prayer bracelet from @tweettoowoo.bsky.social whose Lenten discipline of making them has become a blessing to me.

It is not about learning to live with different points of view, it is about real human beings who are being daily hurt by the church. When this process started it was with an apology to LGBTQ+ people, where has that compassion gone? #synod

Where the US leads, much of the world may follow. It’s on all of us… to speak and act in unabashed support.
The government cannot erase the existence of trans Americans, no matter what labels and phrases are banned.

AND it’s on all of us, particularly those of us who are safer in the current climate, to continue to speak and act in unabashed support for trans Americans, because this time is terrifying.

To live 'the preaching life' is to accept a call to preach the gospel of God's unfailing justice, mercy, compassion and peace, in season and out.

The Bishop of Washington has given us a spectacularly courageous and faithful example of what that looks like:

Christmas Day on a Wednesday seems to have afforded lots of time to read books and crochet in the Void between then and NYE. Can we keep it like that next year?

4 very different and all very lovely services this evening and it’s finally #ClergyMaltClub #CofEPeeps with a rather good port. Happy Christmas everyone!

All ready for a Twinkly Nativity here. Second of 4 I’m invited to - and always a happy diversion from the business of the Rectory in Advent. #CofEpeeps ✝️

Can’t believe how much better my state of mind is since I left the Other Place and migrated to the clear blue skies. Long may it last!

Oh dear. I seem to have discovered that if you buy three second hand books from WoB you get a 4th free.

(I already have the cat - she came as a BOGOF offer last year from the Blue Cross)

One of the pleasing discoveries of doing a little bit of formal study is that when it snows you can stay inside with a cup of tea, a cat and a book and it counts as work

Rather looking forward to Lent and Jane Austen with @revrachelmann.bsky.social ‘s book. We have determined to meet over a teapot each week and if it all gets too much will simply watch Colin Firth emerge from a lake. Well we might do that bit anyway. Apparently some people have never seen it!

It turns out my essay plan is very much like my life. Covers several slightly chaotic pages of a multi coloured mind map and now I’m supposed to put it into a structured A4 document template. If ever there were a metaphor for the life of a Church of England vicar, this is it.

Pleasantly surprised to have landed here (can you land in the sky?) and equally certain that this will prove a complete distraction from the reading I’m supposed to be doing. Off in search of friends…
