Indeed, I don't think it is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

49 ELCA bishops, including my bishop Emily K. Hartner, wrote a letter "in this moment of national and global tension with clarity and conviction [as their] faith compels [them] to stand where Jesus stands—with and for those whom society often seeks to exclude, erase, or diminish."(PDF in comments)

This is Eric's book I greatly enjoy getting back to as it is an important contribution to the mindset of "faith over fear" (and more):

A quote from the book I chose for my Doctoral German Exam and that I am currently reading and studying - Bonhoeffer's Discipleship, page. 5 (German in comments). An important reminder in these times, I think.

Martin Luther didn't think the Letter of James is good for preaching the gospel, but found it useful for teaching on the nature of works stirred by our faith:

Sermon writing musings:
What if we hang Luke 12:15 instead of the Ten Commandments or John 14:6 in public places? Would some proponents of Christian messaging in public had a change of heart?

Attending the first day of North Carolina Synod (ELCA) Synod Assembly! If prayer is in your practice, pray for us as we are voting on a new bishop in the next few days (and for me as I know hardly anyone, so voting is hard). It's a "little" bigger than New Jersey Synod's SA that is for sure!

Prosperity of the majority over the profits of the few: "We should measure the prosperity of a nation not by the number of millionaires, but by the absence of poverty, the prevalence of health, the efficiency of the public schools, and the number of people who can [and] do read worthwhile books."

Let's keep growing, exploring, learning, changing, and never stop questioning!

“All my life I used to wonder what I would become when I grew up. Then, about seven years ago, I realized that I was never going to grow up - that growing is an ever ongoing process.”
