All of which is topped off by Demme's playful direction that give this movie a light, whimsical tone that balances the laughs, the heart, and the thrills.

Then you get Dean Stockwell as the charming but ruthless mob boss just soaking up his roll with a grounded humor. The ensemble cast shines; the pace is tight, the soundtrack filled with 80s pop tunes gives the movie plenty of energy to complement the playful theme of this story.

I would go with Backdraft. Came out in the early 90s and was everywhere for months. It's a bit sappy and super melodramatic but the cast kicks ass, the fire effects still look great, and it's a great timestamp to non-superhero event films from the 90s.
