It's foolish to think that Ukraine could end this war. Zelenskyy ending the war would basically means he hast to surrender; and it would still be no guarantee that Putin won't attack again.

While there has always been some lack of empathy, the fact is the impact of covid on society was the tsunami. The lack of empathy for people at great risk ran high. It spilled over into many other areas in society. People were praised for making fun of others regardless of why.
