28 years has all the notes of coming of age and the complexities of family as you grow up and life and death and violence (and a million ideas not present in tlou) without a writer openly missing the point of his own writing or shit about how palestinians should just lay down arms and hug israelis

the thing about alex garland is that he's actually a very competent writer (his dredd script lacking any satire is questionable though), admittedly i haven't seen men and i fully believe that its probably a miss, but civil war is Good Actually and in fact a movie that's far smarter than its critics

haven't seen the movie but i work as an usher and do screen checks. theres a scene where he hits a tablet to repeatedly say "dead". i don't even think hes rabid i think he just woke up in a bad mood
