One thing has not changed much since 2004: the world still gets >80% of energy from burning fossil fuels. In fact, that percentage hasn’t changed much in 50 years and since before that too. Pretty steady line chart.

Most all hydrogen made for transportation is green & that's great w/ low CO2 g/mile. But, doing some quick math, gray hydrogen is more than 65% less CO2 emissions than gasoline & 75% less than diesel. Why all the fuss about gray hydrogen while blue & green ramp? Natgas is also a domestic product.

Read IEEFA article & did read up on authors Anika Juhn & David Schlissel. It's more anti-hydrogen garbage. I even watched a 1 hour video both authors did w/ Delaware River Keeper (a staunchly anti-hydrogen group). Their research is bunk. They cite Jacobson/Howarth & lack scientific credibility.

Michael Barnard is a complete hack. He publishes anti-h2 propaganda like this 2x per week. AC Transit is not pivoting away from hydrogen. The costs for their H2 buses is lower per mile than battery electric and the uptime is better too. The is from the latest AC Transit ZEB report. MB lies.

Here's a list of companies by country and their planned production of hydrogen vehicles. I'm sure this won't matter to you though Bruce. You seem determined to believe what you want to believe.

Josh, your replies history suggests you're pro BEV & anti-FCEV. You can continue to ignore role hydrogen will play. You can continue to amplify H2 challenges & rationalize BEV shortcomings. Both techs are moving forward. You can attack my character or discredit me all you like, doesn't change facts.

3 of 3) Just like Liebreich (& any bully really), all you have to do is let them know you can see them for who they are and they block you. I showed Gniewomir this picture & let him know his anti-H2 & anti-science stance made more sense knowing his affiliation to Liebreich, he blocked me instantly.
February 12, 2025 at 10:18 PM
2 of 3) ...propagandist. Gniewomir, it turns out, was Liebreich's top lackey. He never made my radar too much but something was amiss. All it took was a quick search of his linked in to see his affiliation anti-hydrogen lieutenant Michael Liebreich. Anti-science & anti-hydrogen go hand in hand.
February 12, 2025 at 10:18 PM
1 of 3) Had seen posts from Gniewomir Flis multiple times disparaging hydrogen. Nothing new. 1000s of people parrot bad science and FUD. But, some are higher ranking like Liebreich, Barnard, Fred Lambert (Electrek), Zach Shahan (CleanTechnica) & many more. Gniewomir Flis fits this "source" type of

Was having trouble understanding your anti-hydrogen bias as I have seen your anti-hydrogen posts for so long and all the usual anti-hydrogen followers you have. Searched you up on Linked In. Your CV and associations make more sense now.

Here are some of the OEMs with plans to build FCEVs. Also a graphical representation by country.

Toyota is focused on sustainability and carbon neutrality. Unfortunately, making BEVs with 6x the materials necessary to cover >95% of average daily commuting doesn't make sense for the environment or economy. A fuel cell vehicle only requires a small battery which put more families in ZEVs.

Benchmark's Friday newsletter echoes what RMP has been writing abt since 2018: BEV demand coming in lower than previously forecasted is causing temporary price drops in raw material supply. If demand goes up, prices go up until they hit a wall of resource constraints. We need lithium mines in USA.

RMP is close to publishing our North American Hydrogen Production Report as of January 2025. RMP has heard stmts like the one below 100s of times. Without data, it goes unchecked. RMP now has the data. We will publish soon. Here is a preview of H2 produced for FCEVs (spoiler: nearly all green).
January 6, 2025 at 3:59 PM
This statement is false. In the absence of data, this statement goes unchecked. What if we had data? What would it show? I have worked all through the Xmas break to disambiguate North American hydrogen production btwn all colors & market segments. Almost all H2 for mobility is green & none is gray.

Here is North America's current hydrogen production mix:
January 4, 2025 at 4:32 PM
It is very hard to find data that could support or refute the claim you're making which makes it easier to make. RMP has been working for years on our own database and it proves you wrong. All new H2 production in North America is "non-gray" and most of it is blue ATR replacing gray SMR.
January 4, 2025 at 4:31 PM
And there it is... Like clockwork, all the slander & libel against blue hydrogen is generally traced back to this one grossly flawed study by Howarth & Jacobson. Ignorant activists fighting carbon abatement at every turn with slander against the most immediate and substantial solutions.
January 4, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Working on mapping all hydrogen production locations in North America. This shows by h2 color & production size. What's interesting is how big these new ATR hydrogen plants are that use CCS to capture >95% of carbon dioxide. Exxon Baytown, Air Products Darrow Mississippi, and Edmonton CA all pop.

This is great about Bluesky too. Finding the #hydrogen peeps here now more & more. How cool is it to be this guy's 1st follower. Find a hydrogen feed and watch it grow with new arrivals. This is way better than Threads. Let's be honest, for those using both, Threads kinda sucks. Just sayin'

Cumulatively over 12 years according to latest published data. IHS Markit provides automotive forecasting data by powertrain. You can search for 6.2L diesel, H2 or BEV or whatever. You can search by automaker too. Here is a quick chart I made based on Mkt Share by country:
