I work for one of the major telcos. Copper services including DSL won't see the next decade at least for my company and I am sure it will be much the same for other companies.

The canceling if commercial supersonic flight was not about noise it was expense these planes use alot of fuel. Not only cost prohibitive but not particularly good for the environment.
