Very true - leaders with high EI and empathy, balanced with the capacity for good communication skills, opennerss fo transparency, accountability, and fairness, will be far more impactful in management and supervisory roles than the alternative - This applies to public safety organizations!

This resonates - choosing a Masters based on fees because the postgrad loan isn’t enough, relying on a funded PhD studentship which isn’t possible in many disciplines - I’m grateful for the opps I’ve had and feel hugely lucky. There needs to be more opportunities for working class research students!
