150 years ago today (9 November 1875) the Board of Directors of the NRA in America met. This meeting sowed the seed for the international Centennial Trophy rifle match. Later to become know as the Palma Trophy, the match is still held today. researchpress.uk/marksmanship...

There were circa 5,500 rifles made by Whitworth and/or the Manchester Ordnance and Rifle Company. Exceeding this figure were the Whitworth rifles made at Enfield and issued for troop trials. Can anyone help with research on the Enfield – Whitworth rifles? researchpress.uk/research/hex...

Rifle powder charger by G. & J.W. Hawksley. One end has spring loaded cover over compartment for powder (marked 4 1/2 drams), other end holds a bullet ready between four fingers tightened with a knurled collar. These would enable the sporting rifleman to quickly reload a muzzle loading rifle.

With Compliments of the Season from Herbert Flood Pitcher – Colour Sergeant. Instructor of Musketry. 1st Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment. c1910. He fought in the Boer War of 1899-1902 and for his service was awarded the Queen’s and the King’s South Africa Medals with six clasps.
