3. The pronunciation of scone is generational as well as regional. You're more likely to rhyme it with 'cone' if you're Gen Z or from Staffordshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire... or Essex.

1. Queen Elizabeth II liked her scone jam first, then cream. (We're still on the fence.)
2. The first use of the phrase 'cream tea' dates from 1931 and included bread and butter.

We had a great time last Friday at our PhD Students' Summer #Conference. 40 collaborative PhD students, research staff and curators came to #Heelis, the NT head office, for papers, poster presentations, networking and lunch.

Lots of great conversations and plenty of tasty food!

National Trust conservators at Knole, Kent are creating a huge new archive of paint samples, supported by a @ukri.org 'RICHeS' grant. This will help us learn how historic painted objects were made and how to care for them.

This St George's Day, meet 'Spike', who lives on the roof of Newark Park in Gloucestershire.🐉

Researchers think that Newark's owner installed Spike over 400 years ago to honour the Welsh-descended queen Elizabeth I.

And yes, that is real 18k gold plating.
