Growing up in a religious household, the media I was allowed to consume was strictly limited. I was always a rule follower, so when my older sister confided that she secretly read fantasy books and offered me one, I was shocked. It wasn’t often that I got to connect with her, so I took the opportunity, and I was instantly hooked. From that moment on, I devoured every fantasy book I could get my hands on. As a shy child with few friends, fantasy stories became my escape into wondrous worlds. It wasn’t until I turned 18 that I discovered The Wheel of Time, but once I did, I dove into it just like I had with many other fantasy series. It began with three main characters who were boys, but Egwene quickly stole the spotlight for me. Over time, more powerful women entered the story, but Egwene's journey stood out and inspired me. She learned from strong mentors how to stay calm under pressure and eventually surpassed expectations in ways no one foresaw. Later in the series, I also grew to love Mat. His character reminds us to enjoy life and shows that even those who don’t see themselves as heroes can rise to the occasion when it matters most. Fantasy books became one of the few things I shared with my older sister, and I wanted to pass that bond down to my younger brothers. They were much younger than me at the time, so I would sit them down and read aloud to them, even if they were a bit too young and got bored. But to my delight, they eventually came back to the series on their own. When the Wheel of Time show was announced, it was actually my youngest brother who brought me the exciting news. He kept up with every update and every interview with Rafe and shared it all with me. Watching the show and discussing theories together has become a special bond between us. So, what does WoT mean to me? It is a show that represents powerful women, a richly diverse world, the freedom to love authentically, and most of all, a deep connection to my siblings.
