When law enforcement is used as a tool for political retribution, it hurts all of us. We lose trust in those who are supposed to protect us, agents become afraid to speak up, and unethical or illegal behavior becomes the norm.

The firing came after news stories revealed Patel had used a government jet to travel to see his girlfriend perform at a wrestling match. Three agents are suing Patel, claiming that they were fired in a campaign of retribution led by the White House and the Justice Department.

He also fired the person who oversees the agency’s fleet of jets, and handles major security threats.

Trade decisions like these directly affect Americans. When the president acts without Congress, it shuts us out of the process. No one person should decide policies that shape our economy, especially when we are left to foot the bill.

Rep. Adrian Smith warned policies that “unduly influence and undermine the domestic cattle market threaten our domestic food security and are not helpful.” Ranchers just want a fair market, not one tilted by decisions that bypass Congress.

GOP Senators are speaking up, too. Sen. John Hoeven said the U.S. should “work with our ranchers rather than import more.” Sen. Deb Fischer added “It was good that a number of people spoke up about their concerns for beef producers in their states.”

Fourteen House Republicans, led by Jason Smith and Adrian Smith, urged the administration to secure “equivalent market access for U.S. beef exports” before allowing Argentina wider entry. They say this policy undermines American producers.

The White House says expanding Argentina’s quota to 80,000 metric tons will lower beef prices, but ranchers and lawmakers warn it could create even more competition for US ranchers already struggling, while offering little price relief to consumers.

Our military should be funded only by the people, full stop. Trump having a private donor to pay the military is yet another way he’s working to subvert Congress during the government shutdown. Only Congress has the power of the purse, it’s not up to Trump and private donors.

Now he’s bankrolling troop pay with his own fortune. This is not about why he is doing this, it's about the fact that Trump wants to allow it. If private donors can fund the military, who do our troops answer to?

The Pentagon says it accepted the money under its “general gift acceptance authority. Timothy Mellon is one of Trump’s biggest financial backers, donating tens of millions to his campaigns and super PACs.
