This gap in access — not just existence of resources — makes a difference in who can benefit from them.

The full-time working student said support on campus feels geared to morning attendees:

This student said many campus services operate from 8am-5pm, forcing students who have evening classes to call off work just to get basic advising or counseling

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, college students are about twice as likely as high school students to participate in the labor force, meaning work is a central part of student life.

Office hours, tutoring, wellness centers, and scholarship opportunities often go unused, even though they exist for students' benefit.

That professor said many students miss out on help not because they lack motivation but because they aren’t aware of resources or can’t access them due to work schedules.

I asked a professor what campus resources students should use more. They told me:

As of 8:35 PM on November 4th, early returns show Prop 50 leading:

Yes: 4,110,305 (64.4%)

No: 2,269,813 (35.6%)

It’s still early to know the final outcome, only 30 minutes after polls closed.
