Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

They must've been stuck there for hours

This was toward the back of the march. It really hasn't thinned out at all.

I've seen a few cops around, but not many. They have nothing to do. It's all completely peaceful.

This is Times Square in NYC. The people keep on coming. Lots of One Piece flags and "we have friends ever" signs.

Not pictured: famed character actor Dylan Baker, who walked right past me a few minutes ago.

Some federal agencies are offline during the shutdown, but not all! The FDIC is going to meet on Tuesday morning, and I guess Russ Vought is going to take time out of his, ahem, busy schedule to be there.

Here's the agenda.

This is on the front page of HUD's website. After a check of other cabinet agencies, it appears that, as of a minute or two ago, it appears that HUD is the only one to have this.

Couple of interesting CFPB filings went for White House review this week.

I felt like the timeline could use a brief change a pace, so I just wanted to share this press release that came to my inbox.

Apparently there's now a dark money campaign calling on Trump to reverse his reversal on allowing the CFPB open banking rule to live?
August 13, 2025 at 2:14 PM
The CFPB may be back in the webinar business. This one next month is about financial exploitation of people in cognitive decline featuring a representative from the agency's Office for Older Americans.

Only notable because they hadn't been doing this sort of stuff since January.

Also, I think we all need to marvel at my quality telestrator work. I'm truly the emperor of the telestrator.

On Tuesday, a federal judge in Washington reinstated Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka, two Democratic NCUA board members Trump fired.

On Wednesday, the judge denied a motion to stay the ruling.

On Thursday, everyone's at the NCUA board meeting. And everyone looks thrilled!

The vote is still open, so I guess there's a chance for some strong-arming and vote switching. But it appears that the rule to vote on crypto bills is in trouble in the House again.

Given everything we know that's happening at the FDIC and the federal government more broadly, this IG report is just a little bit like having 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.

Here's my 10 best movies list. And yes, Rogue one rules extremely hard (and allows me to say yet again how fabulous Andor was).

Is House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill wearing a gavel tie to this hearing with Fed Chair Powell? Can other members wear such a tie, or is it something you get when you ascend to the chair?

A federal judge denied the CFPB and Townstone Financial Inc.'s bid to vacate a November, Biden-era redlining settlement. Story to come, but here's a flavor of the ruling.

The OCC joined the party and submitted its enhanced supplemental leverage ratio proposal to OIRA on Tuesday.

Now that crypto is being taken care of, here's the next set of bank regulatory guidance that the industry is pushing to eliminate.

Vought likes to use the word hallmark when he says something's important to the administration. The automated transcription software thinks he's referring to the greeting card/television movie company.

This is from OMB Director Vought's appearance at the House Appropriations Committee today. I've been in and out on the hearing, but so far no questions about the CFPB yet. (It's not that surprising. It's a big budget request and the CFPB isn't funded through Congress).
