Unsurprisingly, the Republican-controlled House refused to adopt my resolution defending Michigan's naturalized citizens. After all, Speaker Hall defended a member of his caucus who claimed that Michiganders of non-European descend cannot be loyal to the US. #mileg #resist

Today I am calling on the US Department of Justice to end their targeting and demonization of peaceful naturalized citizens. Naturalized citizens are NOT second-class citizens, and I will not stand idly by while the Trump administration tries to take away their rights. #mileg #resist

My statement on the continuing resolution passed yesterday. While we aren't out of the woods yet, I am proud of House Democrats for standing together. Due to our efforts, I am confident the final budget will avoid many of the dangerous cuts proposed by House Republicans. #mileg
