I talk gay about metal sometimes, and shout at my sports teams. Also cats, dogs, spicy food, and nerdy stuff.

Epiphanic Truth's semi-official hype-man.

Grim up North, ain't it?

Today, however, Durham vs Notts.

Cricket.

Castle.

Dog.

Civilised way to spend a day, frankly.

Last night, we had a lovely evening watching Newcastle Falcons v Gloucester. A tad one-sided, but still a good watch.

Chick, Obatoyinbo, and (until he got sent off) Stevenson were class for Falcons.

Seb Atkinson though... ho boy, he's a special player. Surely England's future 12.

These ginger biscuits don't look too bad, despite my earlier concerns.

Fingers crossed they pass the taste test now.

These look alright. Darker than expected but I think I know why and it should be fine.

Now I just have to wait bloody ages for them to cool off before I can see if they taste as incredible as they smell.

Today on Baking With Black Metal, I'm baking some chocolate chip and hazelnut cookies, and listening to Schammasch's absolute masterpiece Hearts Of No Light.

If these biccies come out the oven half as perfect as this album, I'll be dead chuffed.

I'd prefer it if they tasted less seared, mind...

I prefer Plopp.

(Image for everyone else who sees this. I know you know about Plopp already.)

The only word I can use to describe the results of yesterday's bake is "deliciumptious".

Because sometimes "delicious" and "scrumptious" are only strong enough if you combine the two.

Moist, sweet, chewy, toasty and soft.

Dog content.

Nope! All good. They kept easing out and are exactly the shape they should be. Golden brown, and smelling incredible.

I'm crediting Jo's bass playing for saving the day. Ta, Jo.

Wish them luck.

...For Victory is the soundtrack for the actual bake. Still stunning. Jo Bench's grinding bass is absolute chef's-kiss tier on this one. Even by her standards.

Having one of the biccies from yesterday's bake with lunch.

If this biscuit was an album, it'd be Deconstruction by Devon Townsend Project.

It's crisp.
It's fantastic.
It's absolutely nuts.

Today, at request of @jtthalstead.bsky.social, it's Baking With Bolt Thrower. I'm making oat and raisin cookies, while listening to War Master.

I think this is safe, cos the batter needs to rest in the fridge for 2+ hours now. So there's less chance of me cranking the oven to 666° during Cenotaph.

These look alright, I reckon.

This is why I Bake with Beethoven rather than do Recipes with Rotting Christ, or Cook with Cryptopsy. Cos those would lead to the results being either incinerated or smashed to pieces, respectively.

And ruining peanut butter is a cardinal sin, in my eyes.

"Thundercrack"?

First bake of the year. Vegan chocolate and hazelnut cookies. If they taste as good as they smell, these could be my best biccies yet.

When people talk about getting into the Christmas spirit, is this the kinda thing they mean?

If not, are they telling me to move onto the sloe gin instead?
