Speaker of the Oregon House. State Rep. for HD 14 (West Eugene, Veneta). Policy wonk.
Serving in the #orleg to get things done and make Oregonians' lives better.
(4/4) None of this would’ve been necessary if not for the cruelty of the Trump Admin, which kept refusing to pay SNAP benefits despite having the funds. Thankfully, Oregon has leaders & communities fighting to protect families & small businesses even as the feds leave them behind.

(3/4)I’m also grateful to so many local businesses, non-profits, and Oregonians who stepped up in this moment by donating, volunteering, and organizing to ensure our neighbors did not go hungry.

(2/4) I’m grateful to @tinakotek.bsky.social for instructing the agency and the vendor to be ready to process these payments immediately, to @agdanrayfield.bsky.social & other Dem AGs for suing the Trump administration, and to the courts for their clarity that Trump must stop withholding benefits.

I’m grateful to Attorney General Dan Rayfield for continuing to push back, and to my fellow Oregonians for continuing to meet this moment with calm, courage, and conviction.

(5/5) Rep. Nguyễn embodied the best of public service: fierce in her advocacy, compassionate in her approach, and steadfast in her belief in the power of community. Her legacy will live on in this chamber and in every classroom she fought so hard to support. #ORleg #ORpol

(4/5) Her bill passed the House unanimously—a testament to both Rep. Nguyễn’s collaborative spirit and the respect all members of this legislative body had for her. #ORleg #ORpol

(3/5) Her unwavering focus on education equity defined her legislative service. Rep. Nguyễn’s signature issue of her final legislative session was chronic absenteeism in Oregon schools, a critically important element of student success. #ORleg #ORpol

(2/5) As the eldest daughter of Vietnamese refugees and a longtime educator, Rep. Nguyễn carried her family’s story into her work, always centering the voices of children, educators, and immigrant and refugee families. #ORleg #ORpol

Trump’s deployment of the California National Guard to Oregon is on the wrong side of the law, it’s on the wrong side of history, and it’s on the wrong side of the American people.

Judge Immergut is right: this case is about the most fundamental principles of our constitutional democracy and what it means to live under the rule of law in the United States of America.

(3/3) Without this law, powerful companies, military contractors, or foreign entities could profit off of our private data without our consent. With this new law, we have real guardrails in place & have sent the message that Oregonians’ privacy is not for sale. #ORpol #ORleg

(2/3) The new law strengthens consumer privacy laws by prohibiting selling the data of children under 16 years old and banning the sale of precise geolocation data, which addresses concerns about how tech companies collect, sell, & share sensitive information #ORpol #ORleg

(3/3) We know this won't solve every challenge. But with today's vote:
- Businesses will have safe, reliable roads to move goods
- Workers will be able to get to their jobs dependably
- Families can count on safe connections to schools, the doctor’s office, & groceries

(2/3) Half of all new gas tax revenue will go directly to cities & counties, which have struggled to keep up with basic maintenance of local roads. This will give local govts the tools they need to fix the roads & intersections that matter most in their communities

Sending the military to Portland would not only be a violation of federal law, but of our basic rights and freedoms. I know this moment feels unsettling for people across our state and across the country – now more than ever, I urge Oregonians to stay calm, stay peaceful, and stay united.
