Pennsylvania state representative proudly serving the people of Northeast Philadelphia.
We finally passed a #PaBudget. It's late and that is unacceptable, but this bipartisan budget will move Northeast Philadelphia and all of Pennsylvania forward. This budget invests in education, childcare, and fixing roads and bridges without increasing taxes or draining the state's rainy day fund.

As a result of the federal government shutdown, LIHEAP applications will now open December 3 - one month after they were initially set to open. This delay is devastating as it will leave more than 300,000 Pennsylvanians without heat this November. Read more here: www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs...

Due to the federal government shutdown, please note that no SNAP benefits will be issued November and beyond until a budget is passed by congress. In the meantime, contact our U.S. Senators and urge them to get back to work and allow this critical program to continue running.

The time for games and politics is over. Yesterday, we passed a budget for a third time this year in the PA House. My neighbors, schools, non-profits, and businesses are struggling because we are putting politics over people. Now, our Senate colleagues need to do their job and pass this budget.

On this day 24 years ago, our nation witnessed one of the deadliest terror attacks in world history. Today, we hold in our hearts the victims of that horrific day and their loved ones. We also remember the first responders for their brave, heroic actions.

PennDOT has approved SEPTA’s request to use capital assistance funds to resume all routes on September 14. However, this is not the long-term solution we need for public transit funding, and there will be fare increases intact with this.

Due to the Senate’s political games and inaction to fund mass transit, our community will see cuts to SEPTA routes and services in three days. These cuts are going to hurt many of us, and I am disheartened.

I am disheartened that the PA State Senate did not take up and vote on my bill, HB 1788, which would have fully funded SEPTA, mass transit, roads and bridges throughout this Commonwealth.
August 15, 2025 at 1:44 PM
As the House today passed my bill, it’s now up to the Senate to do their part. Let’s keep our Commonwealth moving and our communities thriving! www.pahouse.com/dougherty/In...

My bipartisan bill (HB 1788) marks the fifth time we’ve passed legislation for public transit funding. This bill would not only help SEPTA, but transit operations, including roads in rural, urban, and suburban Pennsylvania, across all 67 counties.
