Man, it's crazy remembering just how awful Sonic games were too back then...... Such incredible art and stories trapped within rushed, tight budget games with poor optimizations and choppy physics. And each one getting constant ridicule from YTers.

It's crazy to me seeing Mario be beautiful straight out of the gate, have an original story, endearing characters, an award winning animation studio behind it - and yet see Mario fans talk abt bullying the studio "the same way Sonic fans did" over like... Rosalina not having nail polish.

It was popular to hate Sonic, but fans persisted even tho it felt like we were getting scraps.
The realistic Sonic design was such a slap in the face when it was revealed. It was basically saying "Sonic fans will eat whatever we shit out anyway, so who cares what it is?" It was insulting.

Everything that happened to Sonic between his redesign and up to the newest games has been a labor of love in resurrecting Sonic. For the first time in years it feels incredible to be a Sonic fan.
