Yeahh.. I know lots of people who have switched to industry. It means letting go of my lifelong dream of understanding the universe. I don't care much about making money. I think if I had to, I'd become a teacher so I can pass on what I know to the next generation.

I study astrophysics/cosmology which doesn't really have many direct industry applications. Unfortunately there are not many options outside of academia.

thank you :) will be meeting with a professor in the department today so I'll see what he has to say too. With all this happening so suddenly he'll probably not know either. Fingers crossed for all of us.

I just applied to PhD programs in a field largely funded by the NSF. I got one admission to a university the other day and I'm terrified-- I hope there is not a chance they will rescind the offer?
