Point being, the stakes are not unknown to me. I'm a writer and an editor, former mental health worker, but when I step outside I taste violence in the fucking air, and have for 30+ years. Even with that, it's sharper now. I know where we are. I'm not disagreeing about that.

I haven't been to war. I mean, unless the War on Drugs counts, which did get me shot in the head by a crack addict during a robbery in the early 90s. Collateral damage in the Drug War, I guess.

Either way, I think it lends Wolff even more credibility, but that's why you don't illegally access things you hope to use in court.

The warrant didn't cover the safe, and they had to leave it in place. They wouldn't have been able to use the contents. Fruit of the Poisonous Tree. Epstein knew they'd seen it and they'd be back for it. So, down the hole or up the flue.

You want to get into conjecture? Here's mine. The contents of the safe probably got buried somewhere for later use by Epstein, or they went up his chimney. Whatever was in it, though, caused enthusiastic safe-crackin' FBI agents to step back and re-examine their warrant.

That's the safe Wolff said Epstein kept the photos in that he was shown. The FBI has, what? 300 gigs of other stuff on hard drives? That's a lot, to be sure, and I'm sure there's some damning stuff in there. However, it seems like he might've kept his lil' gold mine in that safe.

Here's the thing, though. The FBI cut that safe open, and then backed off and came to the conclusion that their warrant didn't cover the contents. So they had to leave them in place. Epstein's people had access to it after that, and as far as we know nothing was recovered from it later. 5/x

Michael Wolff's been telling people what he saw in the safe, and broke no laws accessing it. Epstein showed him, and I believe him 100%. Has it moved the needle, though? I think you'd be in that same boat, but facing federal prison.

What if you illegally access sealed records and there's nothing there? Now you're going to face charges. If you do find something, it's now legally tainted, can't be used in any legal sense, and you'll still face charges. You could leak it, but with that pedigree would sway anyone?
