In SW, Ronan isn't close with his family, but Leo's dad makes up for it. Alex is a bi trans man, and came out in the 80s which obviously wasn't a great time for us queer folks, and this was one of my favorite passages to write with their dynamic

You never forget them. I’ve never forgotten her smile, the sound of her laugh, how she smelled when she spent over an hour in the shower getting ready. When our classmates misgendered me, she stood up for me. And I did not grow up in the age of acceptance we’re in now; it was very dangerous for me to be so open about being trans, and she was the only person that still loved me and fought for me.” Ronan’s heart ached. Alex had come out during the 80s; a time that was incredibly dangerous for any queer person, let alone a trans person. He struggled enough with his own identity, even though the majority of the people around him were accepting, and the most transphobia he experienced was either from Sophia or bullies in school. His dad, Leo, Alex; he had endless supporters.

#QueerPrompts I got to read through the turning point of SW last night, and celebration of Valentine’s Day, here’s one of my favorite moments between Ronan & Derek 🤍😍 #skywriters #booksky
Derek’s eyes widened, and he picked Ronan up by his waist, holding him in the air, so quickly his vision began to blur. After a few moments, Derek carefully set Ronan on the ground. He steadied himself on Derek’s shoulders, and Derek’s hands traveled from his waist, up to his cheek. Derek’s thumb graced his cheek, and Ronan’s heart soared. He hated touch, but craved Derek’s touch more than anything. His hands were warm, nearly double the size of Ronan’s. There were no guarantees in Dante’s pack, but now, he felt completely and utterly safe. As if simply being in Derek’s arms would protect him from any enemy. As if, as long as Derek’s hand was around his waist and neck, nothing could harm him. Is he going to kiss me? Derek smiled, his eyes looking into Ronan’s as if he was the most precious thing in the world. “You did it.” “I did.” His cheeks reddened. “And I couldn’t have without you.” Kiss me.
