I think maga is a strain of fascism with unique properties atop all the fundamental things that make it fascism, and these properties need addressing in unique ways. I think maga is bigger than Trump and would not vanish if he went away.

Big tech has traditionally presented a facade of progressivism (which conservatives buy, ie. big tech is 'woke') but are now more willing to *visibly* acquiesce to right-wing politics. This is what the author means by "going maga" and is a perfectly reasonable thing to observe and analyze

Maga doesn't mean "economically right-wing" - its a specific, fascist, cultural movement.
