I'll check the console now. I do still have s2Member installed (was thinking I'd get this running properly first) but I will remove everything now.

No, when I sign up, a user is created and I'm logged in. But no membership is applied. It kicks me back to the membership checkout page.
If I click the button again, then the membership is applied.

It's confusing to me and I can only imagine that it would be confusing to users.
Am I doing something wrong or is this how it's supposed to be?
