What I have now is rudimentary: an 20 yrs old Icom IC-R20 scanner, and ditto 1 meter whip on a metal pole at 7 m height.
Tried the probe outside at 2 m height. Earthing is crucial for electrical field probes, so perceived noise floor is 3 times higher.
