Because the “American Dream” propaganda told to us all — maybe that will be me! All the while the possibility of moving up economically with “bootstraps” and hard work is more impossible than it has ever been. And so, here we are. Where we have always been. Worse. Cruelty and hate continues.

The robber barons are more powerful than ever. Workers have less rights and some of the poorest communities have been inundated with propaganda that makes them not know how to organize and unite, but instead support the Musks, Trumps, Zuckerbergs, Bezos oppressors

Anyway. It’s well-written, relevant. Especially when the Trump administration is literally rewriting history at the Smithsonian and in school curriculum. We’re 150 years later and the U.S. is in many ways worse/the same. Capitalism and cruelty is still king. The myth of America needs to be unmasked

that got suffocated, destroyed, oppressed later with the KKK, Jim Crow, redlining, gerrymandering, and racist policing. Booker T. Washington was an enslaved person who had the ability to build colleges, power, a movement! A black child born in poverty in the U.S. now has less ability to move up

…the hate for immigrants while using them, the well-done historical depiction of how Black Americans less than 20 years out of the civil war had more opportunity to organize, and ability to build up their own communities with businesses and colleges…

The robber barons, the lack of desire by the rich to pay a living wage to people that make them money, to pay taxes, to support healthcare for everyone, the cruelty, the use of “the Army” to threaten & murder the working class so they’ll continue accepting unlivable wages to make more for the rich

But I might inch in slowly for little things. My dumb inspiration right now? “The Gilded Age” season 1 did not pull me in. But with a lack of good shows, I went back to watch season 2. I am struck by the parallels of 1883 in the U.S. to now.

If you pay attention & care, I’m preaching to the choir. If you don’t, you lack empathy & desire for awareness that I don’t know how to teach. I’d be arrogant to think I could. You feel good & safe? Don’t care about what’s happening to others?(There IS a cat in this pic. And that’s how I feel too)
