🌍 Queering the Remote Work World: Meet Remote Queer
Written in collaboration between Charlie (he/they), Founder of Everywhere Is Queer & Saul (he/they) and Matt (they/them), Founders of Remote Queer For queer folks who live a nomadic life, the idea of finding community on the road can feel… complicated. That’s exactly why **Remote Queer** exists. Co-founded by Saul and Matt, partners in life and business. This project is more than a job board or a newsletter. It’s a lifeline for 2SLGBTQ+ travelers who want to thrive while working remotely, without having to shrink themselves to fit into the straight-coded, hustle-focused world of digital nomads. Saul’s journey started in 2017 when a working holiday in Australia led to love and residency. Matt brought their own background in open-source tech and inclusive design. Together, they’ve spent years moving through the world while navigating everything from visas to overtourism — and dreaming up a more liberatory way of being queer abroad. In 2024, **Remote Queer** was born. Their mission is simple: help queer people navigate the remote work world with confidence, community, and care. Whether through free workshops on inclusion, curated job listings, or upcoming 2SLGBTQ+ remote work trips, Saul and Matt are building a more conscious and connected movement. One that centers our stories and values. ## Remote Queer _Image of Matt and Saul, provided by Matt and Saul_ Remote Queer Website ### 💬 **“Being queer is about more than just relationships — it’s about values.”** For Saul and Matt, those values show up in everything they do. That means recognizing passport privilege, critiquing gentrification, and building spaces where inclusion isn’t just a checkbox, but a daily practice. From using thoughtful, affirming language to prioritizing queer creators (and _not_ AI tools!) in their design process, the Remote Queer team is working to make digital nomad life accessible, affirming, and deeply queer. Of course, it’s not without challenges. As they put it, some of the most difficult barriers aren’t acts of overt hate but quiet erasure or microagressions. From coworking spaces that deadname users to conferences that forget accessibility, their work is about noticing the gaps and creating tools that actually fill them. Whether you’re new to remote work or a seasoned traveler, Remote Queer reminds us that it’s possible to explore the world without losing your connection to queer community and that joy can show up anywhere, from a Melbourne dance floor to a cozy couch with a borrowed cat in your lap. ### 💡 **Queer joy tip from Saul & Matt?** Find your people. Whether it’s a queer climbing gym or an inclusive tech conference, community doesn’t have to stay still to be real. 🎵 **Soundtrack to their journey?** “Welcome to My Island” by Caroline Polachek, an anthem that’s as bold, boundless, and beautifully queer as the work they’re doing. **🌈 Connect with Remote Queer** Find your next job, trip, or bit of inspo at www.remotequeer.co and follow their journey toward a more inclusive world of remote work!

Australia has a high cost of living compared to other #LGBTQ destinations. But #Sydney and #Melbourne have established #queer communities that will welcome you with open arms: https://remotequeer.co/digital-nomad-australia/
Why LGBTQ+ Nomads Should Consider Moving to Australia
For some remote workers, being a digital nomad is all about geo-arbitrage: moving to a developing country where their currency, often the U.S. dollar, can go further. But this can have drawbacks, such as the lack of a pathway to permanent residency or a growing inequality between digital nomads

If you’re on an income-based repayment plan, your studentloan payments are calculated based on your U.S. tax return. Moving abroad can reduce your U.S. income - and put your monthly payments on hold: https://remotequeer.co/feie-student-loans/
Can Moving Overseas Reduce Your Student Loan Payments?
Student loan debt affects over 40 million Americans, and according to a recent survey by LendingTree, 60% of LGBTQ borrowers "regret taking out student loans." Student loans can make it seem impossible for queer millennials to achieve common rites of passage like buying a house or even traveling the world.
