I already did a lot of the high-level content before reaching the end but I have till there is a bit more to do before moving away.

Still the game has a few design issues. It would have been better if it was more explicit on the recommended character/weapon level for each zones/battles + the optional content in the end game is introduced poorly, resulting in a lot of over/under-level gameplay.

I also loved the parry system. It probably has accessibility issues and will probably not be to the taste of everyone but I think it suits the game a lot. Nothing was more enjoyable than a perfect parry sequence with low HP. It has a bit of a FromSoft taste on that side.

Game has probably one of my favorite RPG battle system of all time. Everything is coherent, game leave a lot space to player style and the synergy building is addictive. I hope it will inspire other J-RPGs.

After playing #BluePrince lastly, I would say #indiegames are doing quite well recently. 😅
(And #Deltarune is coming next month... 😱)

Anyway, #BluePrince is a masterpiece to me. 💙
It took an apartment in my head for the last weeks and I enjoyed every minutes of it. I encourage you to play it if you enjoyed games like Obra Dinn or Outer Wilds.
It's a defining piece of work for the video game medium. Good job @dogubomb.bsky.social!

An other rather small issue of the game is the pressure it put on the player. The narrative setting push you to be efficient and to count your days, leading to a bit of frustration when luck is not with you.
I strongly encourage you to take your time and enjoy it, through fails and successes. 😉

To me the game lack a bit of narrative continuity. Puzzles become more and more demanding, impressive & refined but the narrative has nothing more to say after +50h. Still the story is really well written and engaging, with good lore and endearing characters.

But this lead to one of its rare issues: the endgame does not reward players at the height of the expectations it builds. The game raise its own expectations with very thrilling exploration and refined puzzles but it feel like it never really delivers in the end.

The puzzle density makes it also really demanding on the player and requires to take notes & screenshots of anything of interest. Non-Engligh-fluent player will have also a lot of translation to do, the game is not translated for a reason. 😅

#BluePrince do also an excessively good work at ensuring you get the knowledge, by repeating it in various ways and places. Sure you can still miss stuff and I had to look online a few times myself. But it rarely felt like a failed puzzle, just missed infos or out-of-the-box thinking I didn't had.

It is a very prolific puzzle game, with many layers of progression, where every incursion in the manor is done with multiple goals in head. The satisfaction of pulling everything together is tremendous and addictive.

One would believe that puzzle + rogue-like would involve procedural & replay value. But #BluePrince is actually about using what randomness & repetitiveness in rogue-like has to offer, such as: planification, strategy, execution, resources & risk management, and knowledge-centered progression.

I love everything about #BluePrince. 💙 The game is captivating, a dense mix of environnemental & logical puzzles, inside a rogue-like format with strong narrative. The 2D-board gameplay with FPS view will play with your mind, being at the same time a board game and a uncanny manor to explore.
