Erosion is a big issue in Rwanda 🇷🇼. We visited a trial @canallsproject.bsky.social studying the impact of Fanya juu terraces, combining trenches, mounts and fodder grasses (+Grevillea robusta here) to reduce #erosion in cassava cropping systems, #intercropping with legumes, and manure addition.

We monitored during 2 years surface albedo in conventional tillage, no tillage, & no tillage with mulch (maize residues) at 2 long-term experiments in Zimbabwe, and having 2 different soil types:

Visit of the Embrapa research farm on silvopastoral systems 🌳🐄 . These systems are more & more common in 🇧🇷, they improve animal welfare and milk production, while also providing an additional income to farmers with firewood & timber production. Also good for soils, & for climate change mitigation.
