I can't relate to childhood celebration/escapism via nostalgia because mine was traumatic. But there are things I see as lights when the world was shit. There's value in those feelings. Not chasing the past but reminders of nice things in contrast with bad. Also some art is also just timeless.

That's a great point. I've tended to view the retro things I like, as celebrations of ingenuity and craft (typewriters, fountain pens, games, …) and in my own practice, to force focus (do more with less). I don't think there's anything wrong with some escapism but everything is about balance.

It's not about that. Screen time anywhere => more visibility => more media giving screen time. It's the old adage "All publicity is good publicity". Tom Nicholas has an excellent video on this, in the context of the far right in Britain.

The irony is that comedy programs like 'Have I got News for You' (pretty much carried by PE editor Ian Hislop) have a lot of responsibility for making scum like Farage a house hold name in the media. Satire is a double-edged sword.

While 'Photo!' is a great project, I'm using the original Game Boy Camera software for taking pictures. Still has the best dithering. The most dramatic enhancement imo, is still a 3D-printed CS lens mount (or shell) & a cheap CS lens.

I suppose that 'profile scanning' has evolved beyond just keyword and skill scanning over time. Who knows what AI nonsense is powering recruiters nowadays. There's also less hiring at the moment.
