This book has been on my radar. And I am in the sweet spot of knowing about these people but being a touch too old to watch but not quite old enough to have a kid.

The good ole’ boys mentality of “don’t be too smart. Don’t argue back with the men, but bring in money and sacrifice yourself for the good of your family.” I am so glad I escaped this despite my dad’s best efforts to guilt me into it.
