It's almost like the US normalizing digital surveillance thus undermining trust at literally every level of society was a bad idea

Why aren't airplanes taxed heavily but things we all rely on (many don't have a legitimate option of public transportation) are where almost all increased prices occur?

Harms are caused disproportionately by the excessively wealthy so they should pay. Not those of us who already can't afford life

>Richard Barnes, who is 31 and works as a marine biologist and restaurant server in Hawaii, is similarly weary. “I don’t know if I would think differently about someone who uses ChatGPT, but I would be like, ‘come on,’” he said.

No comment just felt that was worth highlighting for multiple reasons

Similar to how labor rights is the peaceful option for dealing with shitty employers, prison and fines is the non violent option for dealing with scum like him

He should be in prison

But unfortunately the US is ran by a brain rotting combination of criminally wealthy legally exploitative oligarchy, never-learned-to-set-the-VCR-time gerentocracy, & Peter Principled nepotism

For a less decentralized example I'm still not sure if Samsung, Intel, Nvidia, or Microsoft is "in charge" of my PC's display settings

I don't think they (or their GUI's) know either

This concept extends beyond a single device OS or internet browser

It is impressive & awesome all the independently designed & managed parts function mostly uninterrupted

But the device / OS, browser / app, & if not app (slashes are a subtle hint) the website itself often duplicates functionality

That logic, when applied to stocks more generally, isn't much different. There may be claims it helps to provide accountability for skeevy businesses but based on what I've read - which is too much - it is usually the stock bettors who are the skeevy businesses.

This kills the humanity

It seems to me the intentional chaos (not only but especially exemplified by this & violence from Ice) is intentioned to prevent recognition of more legitimate internal problems - which are occurring worldwide. The supposed "health" or "mental health" crises that is a manufactured economic crises.

So just like in 2016, we have a terrorist in office because it is a rigged game

Not in the sense that "voting machines" are rigged, but in the sense that money = ability to spread your message. Despite the fact that we have communications technology that makes it almost zero cost to "publish"
