I god damn love Xillia though, first Tales game I managed to fully play through! Did it on Hard, too.

Game is fucking awesome btw, just know that it gets a little stupid on hard mode lategame.

And I didn't even mention the OST restoration end of things. They got the god damn battle theme play-outs at the end functioning?! And Deadline/Brink of Death's intro before hitting "Fight"?!!! This OST + this game speed and tweaks of the PSP version... it's peak.

I don't think I went in truly expecting much more than a typical classic megaten game pre-Nocturne. And what I've been getting is something truly experimental, even within that framework. Persona 1 is *good.* Don't let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise.
