Why not be specific and refer to the groups of methods you actually mean? I like this description so much more. 🤩

Has the world gone mad? Why does every session at a scientific conference need to have this stupid inaccurate Buzzword in it? #EGU26 Am I the only one horrified by this?

Yes, the methods can be useful but why do we all have to use this widely inaccurate umbrella term?

Global water models allow us to explore the terrestrial water cycle in Earth-sized digital laboratories. In our review, we identify primary sources of uncertainties and discuss how they can guide future model development.

Thank you Emmanuel and Victoria for organizing the sustainable research software short-course at #EGU25 this year! If you want to learn more about reprogramming a GHM check out Emmanuel's talk today in the late afternoon in HS2.5.1.

We have built a global dataset of observed groundwater time series combined with lots of relevant Earth system variables. Check out Annemarie's poster this morning at #EGU25 A.59 and ask her about all the effort that went into data cleaning!

Did our paper on digital twins (sesmo.org/article/view...) make you curious about automatically identifying functional relationships in big earth data? Check out Christian's poster at A.13 this afternoon from 16:15 at #EGU25

We developed a perceptual model that helps visualize the complex interplay of natural and human factors.

We share not only the finished graphics but also the original Adobe Illustrator files, so feel free to modify them for your research, scientific outreach, or teaching purposes.

Where we study #coastal #groundwater is significantly biased.

This skewed view limits our understanding of natural processes and how climate change and human activities impact coastal ecosystems.

Well the scale is integrated into the map ;) there is this nice thing called latitudes. Still no North arrow.

Global impact models are pivotal for science, but how good is the software of these models?

Many models are inaccessible, have sub-optimal code comment density, and must be more modular!

The term digital twins of the Earth is misleading. We joined the discussion with our new paper
sesmo.org/article/view...

We argue that we 1) should not call them twins as they remain models that are distinct from reality and 2) that we need better methods to rigorously investigate complex models.

Have you seen the hydrology climate stripes?

If not you might have missed the yearly WMO report on the state of water resources. Take a look: wmo.int/publication-...

For those who already know the report, there now also is a higher resolution version available!

Trotz des nassen Winters wird uns das Thema Grundwasser auch in der Zukunft in Deutschland bewegen.

Mein Interview ist am Freitag den 22. zum Weltwassertag in der Sendung Nano zu sehen!

Great discussions at this year's ISIMIP paper writing workshop here in Mainz of the global water and groundwater sector🥳.

Nothing better than tackling global water challenges in a continuous Team effort!

Groundwater is not only an important source of freshwater for humans but in itself an ecosystem which deserves more attention.

Read our paper in which we explore the question whether groundwater is a hidden global keystone ecosystem:

How can we make reproducible research and open science the norm?

In our paper we outline 11 strategies to make training in these practices the norm:
