This story is weird to me because my only experience with speed dating has been being recruited at the last minute by organizers who didn't have enough women. And men outnumber women on the apps.

This is so fucking real. Action openings work better in movies because of the relative virtues of the medium, but they are so underpowered in fiction.

I haven’t read Wilson’s Odyssey, but if you’re trying to say it’s bad, her opening is not the passage to prove your point.
