Last week, I used the pomodoro technique to achieve ten hours of focused work. It isn’t a lot but the game moved leaps and bounds. Time and progress are loosely correlated. #indiedev #gamedev

This report demonstrates how I do #indiedev / #gamedev whilst working fulltime as a #softdev. It's not sexy but it moves the needle forward every day. I try to do at least one focused #pomodoro session a day. There were a couple of non-days but consistency is hard.

For my first game, I wanted to create a quick Asteroids clone that would teach me the basics of #Godot and #Steam distribution. But my nine year old son convinced me to add some bosses. I asked him to design those bosses. These are his drawings and my interpretations. #indiegame #gamedev #solodev

I really like #godot Tweens. I need to warp enemies onto the screen and Tweens do the job. I love that you can quickly animate a node's attributes with very little code. So simple. Of course, now that I know about them, will I overuse Tweens? Most likely. #indiegamedeveloper #solodev #indiegame

#indiegamedeveloper update. Got my little #Terrahawks cube on the screen and shooting green alien shit. The player can’t be damaged yet but it's easier to test when you can’t die. Thinking about adding another NPC and then doing some refactoring because it needs it. #solodev #indiegame

Three starter ship ideas for my next steam game. As a #solodev, on an #indiegamedeveloper journey, I create my own art. I’m thinking the middle ship will be the one I choose for the starter ship. Maybe, I’ll let the player choose. Maybe not, I don’t want to add feature creep at this early stage. 😨

Last month, I took my son down to the Game On exhibition in Edinburgh and gave him the opportunity to game the eighties way. He loved it. Vibrant colours and 8 bit sounds filling the hall. They definitely need to bring back the arcade.
