I’ve heard that the original embargo on the story was 1pm today, but was changed last minute to tomorrow and RTE didn’t notice/miscommunicated. Hence why they don’t mention it again after the headlines.

Very unlikely that Neasa Hourigan runs again. She has completely left politics I believe (understandably disillusioned with it all).

I know we all have our problems with Eamon Ryan, but he doesn’t get anywhere near enough credit for this. In my opinion, it’s one of the best state projects in a long time.

/2 For reunification to succeed, it must be popular (and therefore, SF must be popular). This leads them to flip-flop on issues according to public opinion. If everyone who supported a United Ireland became facists overnight, so would SF.

The best way I’ve found to describe SF is that while they have some progressive policies, they are not at their core an ideologically driven left-wing party. Their only consistent position is Irish reunification. Republicanism will always come before social or economic issues for them.

Taking out the spoiled/won’t vote gives Connolly a lead of 47.5 to 25 over Humphreys.

I think the Greens are much better off without him. Seems like a few of the “FF/FG on bikes” types are jumping ship since the party endorsed Catherine Connolly.
