A tricky volunteer shift today but overwhelmingly made better by taking a long stay patient to the garden.

We shared our love of big band music, I told him about my saxophone, and we listened to the BBC big band on my Spotify.

It was quite perfect 🥰

It was great to see how well supported some of our most vulnerable patients are & reassuring to discover that I'm saying the right things to patients I see!

Today, I took a patient outside for the first time in their stay. That is always a massive privilege for me.

We talked through some struggles & they felt relieved.

Sometimes,all that's needed is a conversation with the right person

3 years ago, I left my volunteering role at @Livewellsw and joined the volunteer team at @uhpnhs.bsky.social

2 months later, I moved to the ICU rehab team and haven't looked back.

Such a privilege to help others and support the team 🧡

Ended on a high, taking a patient for their first corridor walk. It's the little things 😊

Time for me to have a little break, ready to come back refreshed in January.

2025 is going to be a good year 👊🧡

My #Crownhill stocking is up........6 years & almost to the hour since I was transferred from #ICU to Crownhill ward.

On Christmas day, patients were gifted these,& I treasure it.

But it's taken me 6 years to notice the tiny stocking button on the back! 🤦
