even though it was only a few hundred feet long i think the old LA elevated terminal was really cool. subway terminal gets too much attention, 6th and main was arguably way cooler

quick side-by-side with the Cleveland cars revealed earlier this year. main difference of course is that st louis has no need for the weird semi-low floor layout that cleveland's getting for compatibility with the blue and green lines

i resonate with a lot of streetcar nostalgia, but i'm glad we've learned to build stations that actually exist in the decades since
a pacific electric streetcar stops in bellflower. its floor is near shoulder height, and there is no platform whatsoever at the stop. two men wait to climb up its entrance stairs

nfta-metro is so cool :3 the suburbs it serves are a lot denser than they look thanks to lots of triplexes/quadplexes, and its biggest weakness from what i've heard is lack of feeder buses, more so than its weird grade configuration

Like many of the first generation modern light rail lines in america, the Blue line was a very schedule-oriented project, sacrificing performance in favor of Getting It Done Fast And Cheap. We also see this in the approach to LA, where they chose the much loathed washington rte over an elevated alt.

thinkn about how compton could've had a sick ass open air subway station on the blue line
plan and section diagrams showing a station just below the intersection of willowbrook avenue and compton boulevard. the structure has an island platform for the blue line, and just west of it are southern pacific railroad freight tracks. northeast of the intersection is a transit center with shade structures and sawtooth bus bays.

Yesterday, fredy rode one of LA Metro's BYD K9M electric J-line buses. Despite being only forty feet long, they squeeze 2 more rows of seats in the space an engine would normally take up, giving them the same seating capacity as the NABI 45 footers that are currently the backbone of the j-line.
