Lurker. I like to read about games, game engines, rendering. I do some hobby projects, but won't have much to share.
Zig does some interesting things. This is not one of them. The new async io looks pretty cool, as does the upcoming fuzzing support. Hacking around the operating system and making code generation unstable is just plain stupid.

There have always been trends in gaming. Nothing new. In every genre there are some gems. If you write them off you'll miss out. That said, mobas are a plague designed to spread mental illness, and I'll hear no arguments against this.

Workout progress is slow. Stick with it. Your long-term health will be much better if you're regularly exercising.

I'm assuming Raj Patel was being sarcastic? Canadian here and -9 is pretty comfortable for a winter temperature.

Finally got rid of my lurker account. All it did was waste my time and make me feel bad.

Workplaces that do ergonomic assessments will always recommend having the top of your monitor at eye level so you can look down at a 15 degree angle to the center of your screen. Monitor should tilt 10-20 degrees from vertical based on the distance from your eyes. That would be true for ultrawides.

I've honestly never seen an OLED below $1K where I am in Canada, even on sale. If that happens it's rare.
December 20, 2025 at 8:10 PM
42" OLED TVs cost over $1K CAD. They're incredibly expensive. The size of your television is really based on seated distance. For a 40 degree field of view (THX) you want to be seated 50" away from a 42" screen. Screens that big are poor for desk monitors unless you want poor posture and eye stress.

I appreciate that he's admitted he was wrong about the invasion, but it's not like there'd be any other way out of it for him. I'm not sure his opinion on Crimea has changed. His entire analysis of the South China Sea is it's American imperialism and there'd be no problems if China controlled it.

Throw in his belief that Taiwan should not be independent because it's the remnants of a defeated defeated regime, as if countries, people and places cannot change over time.
October 23, 2025 at 10:58 PM
Not long after that I saw a stream with another guy who guys by the name, Boy Boy. They talked about how the countries around the South China Sea were client states of the USA, and basically implied the area should rightfully be controlled by China which would lead to less tension.

Hasan lost me when he said Russia wouldn't invade Ukraine, but also that the Russian annexation of Crimea was okay because they were "basically Russian", or something close to that effect. His famous, "Crimea river!" joke happened around that time.

Okay. if motion blur is disabled then this is an issue with display persistence on sample-and-hold displays. I find it really annoying as well. I'm hoping for better display strobing technology, maybe Nvidia Pulsar, to start making improvements. Maybe CRT emulation.

I'd still like to see David as a 9 with a third midfielder. I'd like to see David be the one stretching the field more as he did early on with Canada. Still think he's the best finisher on the team and would like him in scoring positions more often rather than building up deep.
October 11, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Isn't that the issue with sample and hold displays and not the rendering? Or is it about the way motion blur is implemented?

I was very interested to see where Timothy Lottes work on the STP upscaler was going, but he was laid off at Unity and now it's not clear if it'll ever be finished.

They're also the people destroying their bodies for the product, risking injury. I think we're too casual with the number of surgeries athletes undergo to repair their bodies.

@dachsjaeger.bsky.social Your dream scenario?
August 20, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Should the canwnt continue to experiment with their squad? Which positions are the most critical to address? Chances for Delaney Baie Pridham?

Also USA was playing more of their depth. I think the gap between these teams, especially on the bench, is pretty big.
July 3, 2025 at 2:35 AM
This Canadian team is actually better, and has a nicer style of play that in years past, but I think overall the top women's nations have just progressed further. Canada doesn't have a player like Rose Lavelle or Alyssa Thompson. Quinn could help lock things down, but missing elite playmakers.
