For no reason whatsoever, certainly not one pertinent to this particular point in time, would recommend more people study "The Limits of Critique" (2015) by Rita Felski.

Wondering whether it's just the photography that makes the black surface look like someone's first attempt at 3d printing, because if you add a bit of a color scheme, which you can do, but not really preview, as this photograph of the hinge add-on seems to suggest, it look so much better!

That's a direction I, my wrists, hands, arms, shoulders and neck can appreciate! Though, I've got to say, if you go split, I want more sauce on the design! This Keebwarrior-S04 is so much more expensive than its basic looks would suggest. That doesn't go together for me, unfortunately.

Tayama Midori's Girl Crush ('20-) captures the allure of Korean idol music so much better in Shoujo manga form than a recent popular film did: similar romanticization of the field at play, but much more substance, focusing on the interpersonal dynamics between trainees as well as their inner lives.

Or the one from the French language edition. There's only this low-res image I could find? It's great, though. The novel really knows how to avoid some of the trappings of fiction that wants to portray revolutionary events and ends up mired either in saccharine triumphs or outright nihilism?

Reluctantly finished God's Bits of Wood (1960) by Ousmane Sembène today, a fictional account of an actual historical event, a railway strike in the 1940s, in Senegal under colonial occupation. Genuinely moving and inspiring without reducing the complexities of the situation? I much prefer this cover

Continuing the Alan Moore journey, to accompany @rangedtouch.bsky.social 's Shelved by Genre, and having a good time with these first few issues of Saga of the Swamp thing, particularly the page layouts and colors? Not into the characterization on this and some other pages? I'll see where it goes.

What happened? It took me two months to get through the first half, which I enjoyed a lot. I guess the weather has been bad, so I have not been able to read outside.
