In 2012 the UN passed a resolution to ban the practice, with 60% of FGM cases – 144m – happening in African countries, followed by 80m in Asia and 6m in the Middle East.

Last week Refugee Women Connect's Expert by Experience group issued a statement in response to the Government new guidance to people who want to apply for citizenship in the UK, stating that anyone who enters the UK illegally, would be refused citizenship.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to remember and honour the lives of transgender people who have lost their lives to ant-trans violence.
Although we don't know accurate statistics, we know that transgender people face extreme persecution in many countries around the world.
