📢 Judicial review filed over Record Ridge mine

The project avoided an Environmental Assessment by lowering its declared production — despite no real changes to its design.

It was named in our 2025 Dirty Dozen report on B.C.’s riskiest mines.

A B.C. court has dismissed a legal challenge from Xatśūll First Nation’s legal challenge, allowing Imperial Metals to raise the Mount Polley dam — the same one that that failed catastrophically in 2014.

📣 Xatśūll First Nation has filed a judicial review over BC’s refusal to require an environmental assessment for the #MountPolley tailings dam expansion.

Mount Polley caused Canada’s worst mining disaster in 2014.
