Problem is, the mattress doesnt "exist" without the casing. It's 6 giant slabs of floppy latex in a trench coat. So we don't really have the luxury of dry cleaning sudden cat pee.

Wool and cotton mattress casing got kitten pee on it and I knew washing it would cause the wool inside to felt beyond repair, even on a gentle cycle.

It's been washed gently many times. But it's old, and the last time I washed it I knew it wouldn't be able to stand much more.
