I defy gravity 🚀🛩️
SpaceX catches a booster for the very first time. Was too busy watching with my own eyes to get any more shots of this. I knew there would be plenty of others

Booster 12 passes back through its own plume, glowing red-orange from entry heating

Booster 12 separates from Ship 30 and begins to head back to the same pad it left just minutes before

33 Raptor engines leave a beautiful plume behind Booster 12

Starship lifts off for the fifth time just before sunrise

Time for the big event, flight 5. Frost lines begin to form as Booster 12 and Ship 30 fuel up ahead of flight

Ship 28 separates from Booster 10. We could see some occasional puffs from the booster’s RCS, but eventually it went behind the clouds. We would later find out it met a speedy demise in the Gulf

Starship ascends for the third time as clouds occasionally block the view

Heavy fog meant this was the first glimpse we got of the rocket

Starship pushes through the clouds on it’s third flight

The sun sets on Booster 10 for the final time. Ship 28 would see one more sunset on the other side of the planet

Starship stages for the first time as ice sloshes around in the bottom of booster 9. This leads to booster 9’s RUD seconds later. I could see puffs that I thought were RCS, but were actually engines failing

For reference here’s the original liftoff photo

Starship ascends for the second time. I set exposure about 5m before launch, and the rising sun led to everything being overexposed. Still managed to pull detail out of most of the shots

Starship lifts off for the second time, leaving the pad mostly intact unlike the first time

Super Heavy ignites all 33 Raptor engines for the first time. The hold meant we had no idea when it would actually launch. The stream called out 30s just as the deluge started. I immediately lost framing after this shot since I wanted to watch liftoff with my own eyes.

Booster 9 and ship 25’s final sunset. The next morning they would lift off on Starship’s 2nd flight

Going to be reposting my photography here. We’ll start with this U2 from last semester
