Hi Jem! Helena from Reedsy here. You applied as an editor but your portfolio contains only books you've authored (instead of edited for other authors). This must've puzzled our team! I'll reach out over email with further instructions :)

Thanks Jasmine. Stripe doesn't have a say in terms of what kind of projects are taking place on Reedsy. And if they ever do, we'll use something else.

Hello Jasmine, we only use Stripe at present. Any specific reason you'd like another option?

Hi Konner, not sure if you already heard from any of our editors, but we'd be happy to address any concerns about creating a profile or working as an editor on Reedsy! Feel free to DM.

5. “Distribution to major bookstores” is NOT what it sounds

They may just list your book on a distribution service like Ingram (which you can do yourself). Whether stores actually order it depends on your relationships with booksellers and readers.

3. Overblown promises

Nobody can “guarantee” a bestseller, and reputable publishers won’t make such claims.

4. No quality control

No proper editorial process or constructive input indicates they don’t care about the quality of your work.

1. Hefty upfront costs

They might claim you’re only paying 20% of the bill when you’re actually bankrolling the entire production — and they’ll still take a hefty cut of your sales.

2. Lack of transparency

They offer little detail on contract terms or how your money is spent.
