Still working on getting my Seattleite into orbit. Born at ~365 CO2 ppm of 421 ppm now. Safe Streets, transit, and housing advocate!
This graph should be a red alarm for all Democratic Federal, State, and Local leaders!! ONLY King County and Cook County in Illinois were in the top 10 by population growth.

This is how we lose electoral college votes and house seats!

At the bottom of the RSS page there is a call out for the caching changes. I bet if you disabled caching for this page it would fix it 🤔

And yeah of course haha The people on the @sngreenways.bsky.social Discord Server demand their Bike Blog Posts!!!

I think the issue is that page somehow got converted into an HTML page (which is why it is rendering the contents in the web browser now)

If you look at the source you can see it embeds the rss feed underneath an HTML header which blocks RSS feeders!

@seattlebikeblog.com @tfooq.bsky.social just wanted to let you know I think your latest SBB post broke your RSS Feed 😭

Your www.seattlebikeblog.com/feed/ is no longer "well formed"

Exception: Error on line 292: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed :/

A less posted lesson from On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder.

If you see fascist propaganda. Remove it. Deface it.

Every piece of fascist propaganda reinforces it. And every act of resistance weakens it.

Unfortunately the Route 40 TPMC project does not include bus bulbs or anything of the like :(

Welcome back to “Vanishing Seattle: Urbanist Edition”! Today travel to West Seattle to see how in just a few years SW Andover St became a vital connection to our trail network!

From 2019 —> today, a parking lane was removed for a buffered bike lane, reclaiming public space from private car storage!

“Vanishing Seattle: Urbanist Edition” returns with a look at Valley St in SLU!

In the span of a decade (2011-2021) Valley St got a major makeover going from a 6 LANE STROAD to 2 lanes of traffic with 2 bike lanes & some parking!

Vanishing this Stroad from MOHAI park was a major achievement!!

Welcome to “Vanishing Seattle: Urbanist Edition” where we look at local streets to see how grassroots advocacy can make our city safer & more sustainable & beautiful!

1st stop: North 34th St in Fremont from July 2014 —> Now

2-way PBL replaces 1 lane making this street safer & prettier for all!

Ahh it is this sidewalk being referenced!

Yeah there are a few buildings which might not appreciate being flattened to widen the road 😅

Though I’m all for making this one way and planting some trees everyone is worried about and widening the sidewalk!!

Guess the transit to get a hint for a series of upcoming posts on urbanism in unexpected places 👀

Ballard -> Westlake Station via Uber -> SeaTac via Link took 1:07 hours & cost $33 versus a direct Uber which would have taken ~50 min & cost $130…

Now if only we can get the Port of Seattle to make the walk of shame from the station better….

At least Alaska has cool new bag check machines 👀

My dentist recently renovated & added these hanging racks INDOORS!

This is such a great way to normalize using a bike to get to destinations. Not only does it keep bikes safe & dry, but it sends a clear message that it is okay and normal to use your bike to go to your dentist appointment!

Kudos!!

E.g. quick and dirty close both slip lanes, & half of Florentia St. and raise the other half with bollards to make a plaza with drive way access

For cities facing multi-million dollar budget crunches (*cough* Seattle *cough*) before looking at austerity budgets, they should look out their window.

Imagine the property/sales tax revenue which could be generated by allowing development of parking lots like these into homes or businesses!

While a connected bike network is critical to increasing ridership rates, so is COVERED bike parking (especially in rainy Seattle)

Here is an example of a rack in a pay-to-park garage which provides free bike parking in downtown Ballard

Share your favorite bike parking example below!

Fun fact about @bsky.app, there are publicly available RSS feeds which you can pull from using a Google App Script to post in Discord Channels or really anywhere else!

Some Seattle Urbanism Accounts are coming to a Seattle Neighborhood Greenways Discord Server near you soon 👀
