If you don't mind, I'm a bit curious about this. I do audiobook narrations & I'm very cognisant of mouth noises, but I wonder how bad do they have to be to trigger your misophonia? By which I mean "do I need to work harder to avoid putting some people off" 😂

I do enjoy systems like that. Good way to add replayability to your game.
Expanding on my earlier thought, instead of the arbitrary opinion checks to see if they like you, it could be reversed. You do shitty things, companions become shittier people. Maybe you don't fuckin' like THEM by the end.

I like this a lot, but feel like characters could also bond differently over low morale things - surviving hell together does forge... something between folks

You've kind of hit the nail on the head here though - we DON'T all know what we're talking about here at all, or this wouldn't be an argument that comes up every 3 months.
The term indie means one specific thing & then there are multiple camps of people trying to change the definition to suit them.

It's a difficult subject, & certainly when it comes to TGA & other huge platforms for games, there are a lot of people who can't get their products out there because they're crowded out, or can't afford it.
Shouting down other peoples' work isn't the play though, regardless.
