If you finish 15th and don’t qualify for Europe, I don’t think gambling on signing only unproven youngsters is wise. A bit of both is ideal. Cunha and Mbeumo are proven and just reaching their peak. They’re ready for made 4-5 years. Mix that in with kids and it’s a good strategy.

United have made “long term planning” signings over the last few years and it’s not worked.
Cunha and Mbeumo are far less risky than more Hojlunds, Zirkzees, etc.
United need to do better immediately. They can’t risk hoping some “long term” signings work out.
