Why observe this session with @chrisfaiella.bsky.social ?

1. You're going to work with him at some point on something. Having an insight into how he works in a session and what his expectations are valuable info you'll need.

2. Steal from your colleagues. 😏❤️

See you there! 💪😆

Voice actors with lopsided heads book 23.2% more than the average voice actor. Did you know that? 🤔

Come exercise those Swiss Cheese Muscles (TM) and let's get lopsided! 💪😤

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's workshop with Jeremy Hall!

Practically speaking, being directed by a professional director with his caliber and experience is, in itself, an experience.

Come work. Flex. Learn. And implement into your approach yet another invaluable insight. ❤️

it's real/authentic to you. That's vulnerability and it takes courage. Courage to work through them and courage to use them in your craft.

Be kind to yourself, please. Acting is the work and it's important. But priority is - and should always be - you. ❤️

Simultaneously, for those life experiences that are INSIDE the boundaries - because you've safely worked through them with a good support system and you've become absolutely confident that utilizing them in your acting won't harm you - they can add a lot to your portrayal of the character. Because

Do not cross boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. Whether it's an audition, workshop, or a session, no actor should re-experience any kind of personal trauma in any context for the sake of characterization.

Acting is not therapy and it should not be utilized as such.

Voice acting is, for the most part, working with an invisible scene partner.

One thing is for sure: there IS someone present in front of you, reacting to your words, forming their thoughts, behaving as they would.

If you can begin to SEE that person, we're in a good place. 💪😤

Being told to "talk to that person" is one thing. Being provided with guidance and know-how about how to do just that is something else.

Join us on Saturday and let's work on bringing that authenticity to the microphone with Jeremy, who is a fantastic coach and director. 😤❤️

One way to measure progress, in my opinion, is this:

Being able to play your own person as a character in a story and sensing your authenticity is fundamental.

Being able to feel that same authenticity with a character who is ✨vastly✨ different than you is progress.

One character at a time. 💪❤️

The first question every coach has ever asked after the first take is this:

"Who are you talking to?"

The lines in the script aren't spoken to an inanimate monolith. There is, indeed, a live character in a story you're interacting with.

Sounds like a fine skill to hone. 😏💪

Improv.
Improv is, without a doubt, a crucially necessary skill for all voice actors. And learning multitudes of approaches, styles, genres, and people will only help to deepen the skill.

Come work with director, CD, composer, improviser, @alecshea.com ! And let's play. 😈💪

Let's think about it.

Life is a series of choices made in the immediate present. And these choices, when strung together, form the backbone of a story.

That's improv. And the more you do it, better you get at making stronger choices and existing in the moment more presently. 😏

The first milestone of actor training is to attain the ability to perform as yourself. To make real your behaviors and reactions to a point that it feels honest and truthful TO YOU, inside any fictitious given circumstances.

That's "good." And it's the fundamental expectation. 💪😤
